1. Language B and language ab initio

   Two group 2 courses. Language B is SL and HL; ab initio is SL only, for beginners.

2. The five prescribed themes

   Identities, experiences, human ingenuity, social organization, sharing the planet.

3. Optional recommended topics: language B

   Under each theme the guide lists indicative topics. They are NOT prescribed.

4. Prescribed topics: language ab initio

   Four topics per theme, twenty in all, and they MUST be addressed.
