A1.1.2Hydrogen bonds as a consequence of the polar covalent bonds within water molecules
Hydrogen bonding between water molecules: each molecule is bent, with a partially negative oxygen and two partially positive hydrogens. Solid lines are covalent O-H bonds within a molecule; dashed lines are hydrogen bonds, each running from a hydrogen of one molecule to the oxygen of another.
1Covalent bond: a pair of electrons shared between two atoms. Water has two, between oxygen and hydrogen.
2Polar covalent bond: one where the electrons are shared unequally, because the oxygen nucleus attracts them more strongly than a hydrogen nucleus does.
3Hydrogen bond: the attraction between a slightly positive hydrogen of one molecule and a slightly negative atom of another.
What polarity produces
  • Oxygen gains a small negative charge (δ−); each hydrogen gains a partial positive charge (δ+).
  • The molecule is bent, not linear, so both hydrogens sit on one side and form one pole, with oxygen the opposite pole.
  • Each hydrogen bond is weak, strictly an intermolecular force, but water molecules are small, so there are very many per unit volume. Collectively they give water its properties.
Drawing it
  • Label δ+ on each hydrogen and δ− on each oxygen.
  • Covalent bonds within a molecule are continuous lines; hydrogen bonds between molecules are dotted or dashed.
Never draw a hydrogen bond as a solid line, and never inside a molecule. Covalent = within, hydrogen = between.

Everything you need for the climb.

Notes
Every note at exactly the right altitude.

Each note is pinned to one syllabus point and written to the depth its command term asks — recall where the syllabus asks recall, judgement where it asks judgement. Key terms, definitions and exam traps are marked the same way in every subject.

A1.12025 syllabus · current
Hydrogen bonds in water
Water is polar: oxygen pulls the shared electrons closer, so each molecule carries partial charges that attract its neighbours.
→ A hydrogen bond is an attraction between molecules — not a covalent bond.

AI TutorEconomics · 2.7
Why does a price ceiling cause a shortage?
Because it holds the price below equilibrium: buyers want more at that price, sellers offer less, and the gap between them is the shortage.

How we compare

Built on the IB syllabus. Every subject, every point.

Camp45 files one note under every point of the official syllabus — 3,334 of them across all 26 subjects — so what you revise is exactly what the IB examines. The big revision sites are strong in the sciences and maths; here is where they stop.

Meet the climbers

Every trail needs someone who climbed it first.

Camp45 began as the notes two sisters kept on their own way through the IB. They weren’t written for a textbook — they were written for the exam: every syllabus point answered at exactly the depth the examiners ask. What worked for them now works for every climber behind them.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

What is Camp45?

Camp45 is a study platform that turns the IB syllabus into notes you can actually revise from — 26 subjects, SL & HL, each note pinned to an exact syllabus point, plus TOK, the extended essay and the command terms.

Is it really syllabus-exact?

Yes. Every note maps to the official wording of an understanding statement, and AO badges keep the depth matched to how the exam actually assesses each point.

Can I try it before paying?

Yes. Every new account gets 7 days of full access: every note in every subject, TOK, the EE guide, the AI tutor, quizzes and study decks. No card is needed and nothing is charged when it ends. After the trial you keep the free plan: the first unit of every subject, formulas and command terms, and each week 5 AI tutor questions, a quiz and a flashcard deck.

What is the difference between the plans?

The monthly plan unlocks every note in every subject, plus formulas, command terms, the AI tutor and unlimited flashcards, practice quizzes and summaries. The exam-year and two-year passes add Theory of Knowledge and the extended essay guide.

Which subjects and levels?

All 26 are listed under Subjects above, grouped the way the IB groups them — from Language A and language acquisition through the sciences, both maths courses and the arts. SL and HL are both covered, with HL-only content marked.

When does my pass end?

The exam-year pass runs until 31 May, the end of the May exam session: buy it any time from June to May and it ends on the 31 May that follows. The two-year pass runs a year beyond that, through DP2. The date is shown on the plan before you pay. The monthly plan runs to the end of each month you pay for.

How is payment taken?

By card through a secure checkout. The exam pass and the full-diploma pass are single payments with nothing recurring. The monthly plan renews each month until you cancel, which you can do anytime.
